for mixed chamber ensemble

Program Note

Dance of Colors is composed for a mixed chamber ensemble that draws inspiration from the paintings of Joan Mitchell. I first encountered her artworks at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts during my visit in 2021. One of the most remarkable features of her paintings is the free and spontaneous brushstrokes, along with the diverse range of colors. This piece is a reflection of her bold and impressionistic use of color, as the instruments engage in a lively dialogue of musical hues.
