Program Note

Dance of Colors is a vibrant and energetic work inspired by the paintings of Joan Mitchell. I first encountered her works at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts in 2021. The memorable characteristics of her paintings are the brushstrokes that are freely dispersed on canvas and the diverse color palette. This piece depicts her bold and impressionistic use of color, as the instruments intertwine in a lively dialogue.
